Automatic Transfer Switch
Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) panels, also known as Automatic Main Failure (AMF) panels, are critical devices that automatically switch power to emergency standby generators during significant mains power failures or blackouts. Without ATS panels, generators must be manually operated, which can lead to data loss, equipment damage, and operational disruptions.
The ATS continuously monitors the utility power supply and, upon detecting a failure or voltage drop, it sends a start signal to the generator. Once the generator achieves the required voltage and frequency, the ATS seamlessly transfers the electrical load from the mains to the generator. When utility power is restored, the ATS switches the load back to the mains and signals the generator to shut down.
This automated switching ensures uninterrupted power supply and minimizes downtime in critical applications. Unlike manual transfer switches, ATS panels operate autonomously and provide rapid, reliable changeovers, safeguarding equipment and maintaining business continuity.
Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) panels continuously monitor the incoming AC mains supply and automatically start the standby generator when a mains power failure is detected. They then transfer the electrical load from the mains to the generator seamlessly. When mains power is restored, the ATS switches the load back to the mains supply and initiates the generator’s shutdown after an appropriate cooling period.
Advanced electronic control systems in ATS panels enable features like full mains synchronization for no-break changeovers. LED indicators display supply availability and load switching status, making the system fully autonomous. The changeover device incorporates electrical and mechanical interlocking that complies with IEC/BSEN 60947-6-1 standards.
ATS panels are widely used across industries such as processing plants and hospitals for reliable power supply management. They can be customized to operate in automatic or manual modes according to specific client requirements, ensuring operational continuity and protection of critical electrical equipment.
